I have the honour to refer to the second

January, 1930, containing certain observations on the Report of the Salaries Commission and in particular to the proposals on pages 17 and 18 thereof on the subject of acting pay for Cadet Officers.

2. I would refer also to my confidential

despatch of 10th July in which a recommendation is made

for filling the substantive vacancy in Class I of the

Cadet Service caused by the retirement of an officer in

that Class who se post is filled by an officer from out side

the Cadet Service and to the approval of this recommendation

2 contained in your telegram No.104 of 3rd September.

3. I now recommend that so long as the

Treasurership is held by an officer outside the Cadet

Service the privilege of drawing acting salary on the

lines indicated in my first paragraph above should be

extended to any Class II Officer filling the post of

Head of the Sanitary Department for over two months.
